Sport has always lived in the space between the beating of your heart and the sound of a whistle. It is the roar before a kick-off, the quiet dread of stoppage time.

The stories we tell long after the final score has faded. Sideline Sport exists to capture that space the drama, the nostalgia, the characters, the chaos, and the joy that lovers of sport cannot resist.

This first issue launches with a simple belief: the best stories aren’t always found on the pitch. They’re in the stands, the pubs, the training grounds, the dressing rooms, the long-forgotten archives, and the minds of the fans who’ve lived every high and low. That’s why you’ll find a blend of current features and deep dives into the past, celebrating the legends, the nearly-men, the cult heroes, and the moments that shaped the sports we love. You’ll also meet our resident mischief-makers, PYE and MASHE two reporters who approach sport with the seriousness of a late-night kebab run. Expect sharp wit, questionable analysis, and the kind of commentary you’d overhear from the loudest table in the bar. They’re here to remind us that sport is supposed to be fun, and that no player, manager, referee, or fan (including you) is safe from a well‑aimed punchline.

Alongside them, you’ll find quizzes designed to test the trivia-obsessed, reviews that cut through the noise, and features that shine a light on the stories that deserve to be told. Whether you’re here for nostalgia, knowledge, nonsense, or a bit of everything, you’re in good company.

This is just the beginning. Sideline Sport will grow, evolve, and like any good team thrive on the passion of the people who follow it. Thanks for joining us on day one. Let’s make this a publication worthy of the fans who live and breathe the games we cover.
